· Because surgery education is vital to the continuation of quality care, all members of the hospital surgery team attend training annually to remain current in the most recent medical procedures. This training allows Hospital surgery, PACU and Same Day Surgery personnel to interact with the new surgeons practicing at our hospital and to coordinate presentations about the new equipment and procedures the Hospital is putting in place. The Ashland Community Hospital Foundation assisted by funding one of these training events. $500
· In order to keep up with the latest changes in equipment technology, Ashland Community Hospital Foundation provided funding to assist the Hospital in acquiring the latest in state-of-the-art equipment. $50,154
· The Foundation contributed significantly to the Trinity Respite Program (a department of Ashland Community Hospital). Trinity offers senior day care program for clients with dementia. Designed as a social model, the program is considered one of the top programs in the state. Funds ensure availability of services to clients in the community who could not otherwise afford them. $125,655
· To assist handicapped clients using the Occupational Health Department of Ashland Community Hospital, the Foundation funded the installation of an automatic door system. $1,619
· In order to improve the level of communications throughout the Rogue Valley in a time of major disaster, the Foundation purchase the antenna equipment required for the Hospital to communicate with ham radio operators. $798
· Through the generosity of Dr. William and Ruth Evans, Ashland Community Hospital Foundation provides scholarships each year to potential future Rogue Valley nurses. Scholarships are awarded to students attending the nursing program at Oregon Health Science University at Southern Oregon University and at Rogue Community College. For the 2003 calendar year, the Foundation provided three scholarships. $9,750
· Through the continuing efforts of Ashland Community Hospital Foundation, the community of Talent, Oregon continues to receive quality healthcare. In 1994 the Foundation constructed a medical office building and pharmacy in Talent, Oregon. These are rented to Ashland Community Hospital health care professionals. The Foundation also converted an existing building in 2002 to health care use, and it is now occupied by Talent’s first physical therapist. Both of these actions have helped guarantee health services to the community. $74,711
· To provide adequate family practice and pediatric care in the community, in 1999 Ashland Community Hospital Foundation converted a single-family residence into a three-person medical office building located directly across the street from the Hospital. $25,377
· To ensure continuation of a vital 24 hour assisted living program for brain injured young men and women, the Foundation acquired an assisted living facility located next to the hospital in 2001. Through the acquisition, the Foundation has been able to provide a low cost stable environment and ensure the continuation of the only program of this type in Jackson County. $53,261
· To improve patient care, Ashland Community Hospital Foundation constructed a two story medical office building in Ashland, Oregon in 1999. This enabled the Foundation to locate a variety of Ashland’s finest specialist in one building, close to Ashland Community Hospital. This action has improved patient access to care and increased patient convenience by having a variety of specialists in one location. $174,531
· To ensure adequate office space for Ashland Internal Medicine doctors, the Foundation acquired a medical office building to meet the internal medicine demands of our aging community. This action has helped ensure quality care for the seniors in Ashland. $29,509
