Karen Amarotico was born and raised in New York where she studied at the College of Staten Island and the Culinary Institute of America before moving to Oregon where she earned undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Management at Southern Oregon University. She began baking when she was ten years old and has worked in food service for most of her life.
Since moving to Ashland in 1986, Karen has volunteered for a number of organizations including the Rotary Club of Ashland, the Elks, the SMART reading program, and the Ashland Schools Foundation. Karen currently provides catering services in Ashland. In 2011, Karen created a gratitude project—www.PieaDayGiveaway.com—where she gave away a homemade pie every day for a year. She is a proud parent of Alexandra and Francesco, who now reside in New York City and Montana respectively.
