Stephanie Roland, CFRE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Stephanie is a native Oregonian who moved to Ashland in 1997 to attend Southern Oregon University (SOU) where she earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Psychology. After graduation she worked at the SOU Hannon Library initially in the Technical Services department and then later as the Assistant to the Director.

As Assistant to the Director, she supported the Friends of the Hannon Library and was first introduced to the fundraising profession. After 10 years at SOU as both a student and professional, she left her position and joined the foundation.
She began as a Development Associate in 2007, and later received her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) in 2013.
In addition to her work, Stephanie is a member of Soroptimist International of Ashland and Rotary Club of Ashland. In her spare time she enjoys time spent with her husband, Curt, walking their dogs, being outside in nature, and volunteering in her community. 541-482-0367 x2

Kathleen Mackris
Philanthropy Director (retiring, may 2024)
Kathleen was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science. Shortly after receiving her degree, she moved to San Francisco where she began her unlikely career as a Real Estate Appraiser. In 1991, after 10 years in the Bay Area, Kathleen, her husband and two young sons moved to Ashland where she continued to grow her Real Estate Appraisal business and perfect her parenting skills.

After spending several years researching more personally fulfilling career options, Kathleen joined the foundation in 2011. Here, she has found a second career as a Philanthropy Director which offers her the opportunity to use her passion for community service and her strengths as an extrovert to further the mission of the foundation. Currently, Kathleen is a member of the AAUW – Ashland Branch, Rotary Club of Ashland, and is a volunteer Neighborhood Coordinator with the Ashland Food Project. 541-482-0367 x1

Sky Loos
Philanthropy Director
A San Francisco native, Sky holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Montana. Sky and her family relocated to Ashland in 2008 by way of Sun Valley, Idaho. During her 20 years of nonprofit experience, Sky has developed a passion for mission driven organizations and has held leadership roles at the Southern Oregon Humane Society, Britt Festivals, and most recently, Friends of the Animals.

Sky has been responsible for a wide variety of nonprofit programs and projects, including spearheading the Britt Orchestra at Crater Lake performances, managing the Humane Education Leadership Program, and overseeing organizational rebranding and strategic planning. She served on the Modern Roots Foundation Board of Directors and chaired SO Health-E’s LGBTQIA+ committee.
Sky lives in Ashland with her husband, daughter, and a menagerie of dogs and cats. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, exploring new hiking areas in Southern Oregon, and reading historical biographies. 541-482-0367 x3

Nicole Gutrich
COMMUNICATIONS & OUTREACH COORDINATOR
A long-time Ashland resident, Nicole holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas, Austin, and has pursued graduate coursework in Arts Policy and Administration at the Ohio State University. In her 20 years of experience in nonprofit communications, recruitment, development, and outreach in the arts, sciences and academia, Nicole has worked at the Hawai’i Youth Symphony, the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, the Britt Festival, and Southern Oregon University.

In her free time, you may find her doing embroidery, taking pictures of clouds, or having a cup of tea. She has raised two daughters in the Rogue Valley with whom she shares a love for music, movies, and their two cats. 541-482-0367 x4

Janet Troy
EMERITUS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Janet was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She spent the second chapter of her life in Cincinnati, Ohio, before moving to Ashland in 2009.
Janet’s first professional job after college was with the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children. Later she worked as a director for a human services organization in Northern Kentucky. That position introduced Janet to fundraising. A job opportunity with the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation in Cincinnati convinced her that health care fundraising was her way to make a difference in the world and serve others.

Janet received her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation in 2007, earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Education from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Janet joined the foundation in June 2009. As Executive Director, she was responsible for securing and stewarding charitable gifts to promote community health and wellness, working closely with the foundation board of directors and staff.
Janet led the foundation board and staff through four strategic planning efforts, strengthened the foundation’s focus on fundraising, and implemented a comprehensive development program.
She is involved in the AAUW – Ashland Branch, Ashland Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club of Ashland.
In her spare time, Janet enjoys food, wine, music, nature, and spending time with her partner, Andy.
