Employee Donations Support Patient Safety

Caregiver Fund Awards

Last week the Patient Experience & Employee Engagement Committee (PEEEC) awarded $11,945 from the Caregiver Fund to support projects to enhance patient experience and safety.

Our Outpatient Lab, which sees an average of 100 patients each day, will soon have a new bariatric phlebotomy chair, as well as a reclining chair. Both chairs will increase patient safety during lab draws, and the reclining chair will offer enhanced support to patients who have a history of fainting during phlebotomy.

In addition, a new Golvo Mobile Lift will soon be available in our Medical Surgical Unit to assist staff in the safe transfer of patients who are immobile. The overhead lift will make it easier to lift patients to/from chairs and bed, promoting safe patient handling, and because it’s mobile it can be used throughout the unit as the need arises.

The Caregiver Fund is supported by employee contributions and is a way for staff to share ideas on ways to enhance the patient experience at Asante Ashland. Employee donations to the Caregiver Fund helped make these projects possible!
