The grant will be used to provide the services of 2 full-time equivalent registered nurses for the two school districts.

The School Nurse Program offers services including routine injury and illness care, dental education, mental health assessments and parent counseling for an average of 18-22 children and their families each day.

The School Nurse Program has been administered and primarily funded by the hospital for 18 years.  It has received grant funding from the Oregon Community Foundation for the last 8 years, and the school districts contribute some additional funding.

The Ashland Community Hospital Foundation also recently received a $500 grant from the Ashland Food Co-op for the “Healthy Foods-an Alternative to Medication “program that school nurse, Belinda Brown began last year.
